Area Info and Attractions

The beach isn’t the only attraction on the Alabama Gulf Coast. The area attractions are as plentiful as the real estate options. Here are a few of the must-see attractions.

Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo
Nature on the Alabama Gulf Coast extends much further than the beach. The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo is home to more than 500 exotic animals, including kangaroos, lemurs, sloths, reptiles, lions, tigers, and primates.

The Wharf
The Wharf in Orange Beach is known as the entertainment destination in Orange Beach. Here you’ll find one of the largest Ferris wheels in the Southeast, zipline tours, laser tag, bazooka ball, restaurants, shops, and even entertainment like live performances.

The Alabama Coastal Birding Trail
Migrant birds—including hummingbirds and herons—make a stop each spring and fall along the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail, which has been extended to be more than 27 miles through Orange Beach and Gulf State Park.

The Track Recreation Center
Anyone looking for a thrill will enjoy The Track Recreation Center. Here you’ll find go-karts, mini golf, bumper cars, bumper boats, and more.

Fort Morgan
History buffs will appreciate a visit to historic Fort Morgan. The masonry fort was built in the early 1800s as part of the defense of Mobile Bay, and it stood as an important fort and artillery post until after World War II. Today, the fort’s museum showcases life in the fort and the history of the U.S. Army.

Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge
The 7,157-acre Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge is a sanctuary for many migratory birds and threatened and endangered species. The refuge is home to the last remaining undisturbed habitat for the endangered Alabama beach mouse, and it has a variety of flora and fauna as well.
